Case Definition and Data Entry

You are cordially invited to contribute cases of invasive infections caused by emerging fungi to our registry. The following criteria need to be met for inclusion of a case.

  • Inclusion criteria:
    • Cultural, histopathological or DNA evidence of invasive infection with an emerging fungus*
  • Exclusion criteria:
    • Infection due to Aspergillus spp., Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Pneumocystis jirovecii
    • Endemic fungal infection such as coccidioidomycosis or histoplasmosis
    • Colonisation or other non-invasive infection

* Examples of emerging fungi:
Acremonium spp., Alternaria spp., Aureobasidium spp., Bipolaris spp., Cladiophialophora spp., Cladosporium spp., Cryptococcus spp. other than neoformans, Curvularia spp., Exophiala spp., Fusarium spp., Geotrichum spp., Paecilomyces spp., Penicillium spp., Phialophora spp., Scedosporium spp., Trichoderma spp. and Trichosporon spp.
