Case Definition and Data Entry
You are cordially invited to contribute cases of invasive infections caused by emerging fungi to our registry. The following criteria need to be met for inclusion of a case.
- Inclusion criteria:
- Cultural, histopathological or DNA evidence of invasive infection with a fungus*
- Aspergillosis with at least 3 galactomannan results from day of diagnosis throughout therapy
- Exclusion criteria:
- Infection due to Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Pneumocystis jirovecii
- Endemic fungal infection such as coccidioidomycosis or histoplasmosis
- Colonisation only or other non-invasive infection
* Examples of emerging fungi:
Acremonium spp., Alternaria spp., Aspergillus spp., Aureobasidium spp., Bipolaris spp., Cladiophialophora spp., Cladosporium spp., Cryptococcus spp. other than neoformans, Curvularia spp., Exophiala spp., Fusarium spp., Geotrichum spp., Paecilomyces spp., Penicillium spp., Phialophora spp., Scedosporium spp., Trichoderma spp. and Trichosporon spp.
